Driving to Norwich Airport and parking looks simple until you add up the bill. Parking is charged by the day, so every extra day away pushes the total higher. A taxi is one fixed fare for the whole car, which changes the sums quickly as trips get longer or fuller.
We’re the airport’s official taxi partner, so we’re not neutral. But a taxi doesn’t win every time, and we’ll say where parking comes out ahead.
How Norwich Airport parking is charged
Norwich Airport has two main car parks. Car Park 1 (Short Stay) is closest to the terminal, and Car Park 2 (Long Stay) is a little further out. At the gate, you pay by the day, so the bill climbs with every day you’re away.
Pre-booking is usually much cheaper than paying at the gate. You can book on the airport’s own site or through booking agents, and the earlier you book, the better the price tends to be. Rates change, so check the airport’s car parking page for what’s current.
Both car parks are cashless, so bring a card. There’s also a Park & Ride bus from outside the terminal. Early flights can beat the first bus, so check the timetable before you rely on it.
The drop-off charge catches people out
If a friend or relative drives you, they’ll pay too. The drop-off area is inside Car Park 1, it’s charged, and there’s no free drop-off forecourt. That cost lands on whoever gives you the lift, and it’s easy to forget when you’re comparing prices.
Blue Badge holders get dedicated drop-off and pick-up spaces in Car Park 1, with a longer stay at the shortest rate.
What a taxi from us covers
We’re the official authorised taxi partner of Norwich International Airport. You’ll find our booking desk in the terminal, next to the car hire desks, and our cars wait in designated bays in Car Park 1.
- Fixed price. Your airport fare is agreed when you book. It includes the airport drop-off charge and waiting time, so there’s nothing to add at the end.
- Per car, not per person. The more of you travelling, the better value it gets.
- Flight tracking. Give us your flight number and we’ll move your pickup to when you actually land. There’s no waiting charge on flights booked from Norwich Airport.
- Meet and greet. Available if you’d like your driver to meet you in arrivals.
- The right size of car. Our minibuses seat up to 8, and we have wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Tell us what you need when you book.

At a glance
| Parking | Taxi | |
|---|---|---|
| Charged | Per day | Per car |
| Best price | Pre-book early | Fixed when you book |
| Drop-off charge | Charged | Included |
| Your car on return | Yes | No |
Work it out in two minutes
You don’t need a calculator app, just four numbers:
- Parking. Add up the cost for your dates on the airport’s car parking page, either at the gate rate or pre-booked.
- Fuel. Count the round trip from your door to the airport and back.
- Drop-off and pick-up charges. Include these if someone else is driving you.
- Our fare. Find the return fare for your pickup area on our taxi fares page.
Add the first three together and compare the total with the fourth. Then divide each total by the number of you travelling. A full car splits our fare furthest, and a solo traveller carries all of it.
Trip length matters most. The parking bill grows with each day away, while our fare stays the same.
When parking makes sense
- You’re travelling solo on a short trip.
- You booked your parking well ahead.
- You need your own car the moment you land.
When a taxi makes sense
- You’re away for longer.
- You’re a couple, a family or a group sharing one fare.
- Your flight is early, when the Park & Ride bus may not be running yet.
- You have heavy luggage or accessibility needs.
- You’re landing tired, or your flight might be delayed.
Three hypothetical trips
A quick solo break
Say you’re flying alone for a couple of nights. You booked your parking weeks ago and you’ll want your car as soon as you land. Parking probably works out cheaper here, and you’ve got your own wheels for the drive home.
A family holiday
Say you’re a family heading away for a fortnight with big suitcases. The parking bill grows every single day you’re gone, and you’d still have to find a space and get everyone to the terminal. One taxi, or a minibus if there are enough of you, takes you door to door for one fixed fare.
An early flight and a late landing
Say you’re catching a flight at dawn and landing back late. Your driver arrives at your door when you need them, and your pickup follows your actual landing time if the flight runs late. You don’t wait for a bus or hunt for your car in the dark.
